Purpose
We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our team at Peacock Tariff Consulting (PTC) as the Business Development Lead, serving as a key driver of company growth. This role is responsible for proactively identifying, pursuing, and securing new client opportunities, particularly among exporters, importers, and manufacturers navigating complex tariff and trade regulations. Working closely with leadership, the Business Development Lead will build relationships, create market strategies, and translate PTC’s specialized trade expertise into tangible client solutions.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute proactive strategies to acquire new clients, focusing on importers, exporters, manufacturers, and logistics partners navigating tariff and trade complexities
- Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with prospective and current clients; act as the primary point of contact for business development initiatives
- Identify new geographic and sectoral opportunities for PTC services, particularly in high-growth areas impacted by trade policy changes
- Manage the full sales cycle from lead generation and qualification through proposal, negotiation, and closing
- Work closely with the Company Principal and Director of International Trade to align business development priorities with firm-wide strategy
- Represent PTC at conferences, industry associations, and virtual events to build visibility and generate leads
- Track, analyze, and report on pipeline development, client conversion, and revenue growth metrics
Accountabilities
- Meet or exceed agreed-upon sales and revenue targets
- Maintain a well-qualified and active pipeline of opportunities
- Build trust-based, long-term relationships with clients and partners
- Provide insights to leadership on client trends, competitive landscape, and emerging opportunities
- Conduct all business with transparency, professionalism, and ethical standards
- Put client needs first, ensuring PTC delivers value and impact
- Take initiative and responsibility for business development outcomes
- Partner with internal teams to ensure a seamless client experience
- Embrace challenges and adapt strategies to achieve results in a competitive environment
Key Metrics for Success
- Revenue growth directly attributable to new business
- Pipeline development and conversion rates
- Number and quality of new client engagements
- Expansion into new sectors or geographic markets
- Client satisfaction at handoff to operations
Skills and Qualifications
- Proven track record in business development, sales, or client acquisition (consulting, logistics, or professional services preferred)
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills across senior executive and operational levels
- Experience in international trade, customs, or supply chain is a strong asset
- Familiarity with CRM tools and pipeline management
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently in a remote environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, International Trade, Economics, or related field (preferred)
Compensation
Base Salary: $75,000 – $95,000 USD (or equivalent in CAD), commensurate with experience.

Social Media and Communications Associate (Part-Time)

Purpose
The Social Media & Communications Associate plays a vital role in shaping the public voice of Peacock Tariff Consulting (PTC). This role supports brand visibility, thought leadership, and client engagement through digital communications and social media. Working part-time and remotely, the Associate will create content, manage online platforms, and coordinate communications that highlight PTC’s expertise in tariffs, customs, and international trade.
Responsibilities
- Draft, edit, and publish engaging posts across LinkedIn, Twitter/X, and other relevant channels to highlight PTC’s services, insights, and achievements
- Ensure consistent tone, style, and messaging aligned with PTC’s brand and values
- Monitor social media activity, respond to comments/messages, and foster connections with clients, partners, and industry peers
- Assist in planning and executing digital campaigns tied to events, service launches, or publications
- Track performance of posts, campaigns, and audience growth, and provide actionable insights
- Support development of newsletters, blog posts, press releases, and other external communications
- Stay current on trade policy and customs news to suggest timely, relevant content
Accountabilities
- Maintain a consistent posting schedule and timely responses to online engagement
- Produce quality, polished, professional communications that strengthen PTC’s credibility
- Demonstrate measurable growth in audience engagement and reach, driving PTC’s impact
- Collaborate with leadership and PR to align content with business development priorities

- Growth in followers, engagement rate, and impressions on social platforms
- Increased visibility of PTC’s expertise in tariffs and international trade
- Timely execution of communications aligned with company initiatives
- Quality and effectiveness of written materials (newsletters, posts, press releases)
Skills and Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience in social media, communications, or digital marketing
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills
- Familiarity with LinkedIn, Twitter/X, Instagram, other social media & digital platforms are a plus
- Basic knowledge of analytics platforms (LinkedIn Analytics, Google Analytics, etc.)
- Interest in international trade, customs, or policy communications (preferred but not required)
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a remote, part-time role
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, or related field (preferred)
Compensation
- Hourly Rate: $21 – $30 USD (or equivalent in CAD), commensurate with experience
- Hours: 10–15 hours per week, with flexibility in scheduling
